Here we are almost at the end of August another month and Autumn will officially begin.
September the 23rd to be exact. But for now it is nice to enjoy getting out and about
in the sunshine, all be it just a little bit cooler now.
Today I took a stroll through Thrunton woods near Callaly. I haven’t been there since,
O must be March time when the ground was still soggy and the bridal way muddy from the work that had been
carried out in the forest to thin the trees. I love this forest with its tall firs and further
in to the deep part of the woodland the ancient beach trees that must be as old as the forest itself.
And the great thing is this part of the woods is hardly visited. Shh
don't tell anyone about it. Lets keep it our little secret.
Today however was not the day for that long haul up to Castle hill and beyond. Back home I had work to do so spending all
day here wasn’t practical.
Like most days I like to go different place and let Tess explore somewhere different from the day before and smell those
delicious smells that all dogs love. I’ve photographed this place many times as those who follow my work will know.
If this is your first on site then check out some of my other woods and Forest photography. Mm when I check back on the
website it seems I have been neglecting photos of woods and forest. I must remedy that.
The problem with photographing woodlands is of course getting the light just right. It is all too easy to get deep shadows
with very little detail or just taking photos of a bland scene.
Today wasn’t really a good day for photography if I was really honest. But I did quite like this scene of the woodland floor
as the rays of light cascaded through the dappled leaves. Hope you like it too?
